Machine Learning Researcher @ Cornell Lab of Ornithology Jun 2025—Present
Developing and fine-tuning CNN/deep learning models for low-frequency elephant vocalization detection in collaboration with the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics at Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Building specialized acoustic preprocessing pipelines to handle infrasonic signals and optimize model performance for large mammal bioacoustic analysis. Evaluating model architectures across diverse field recording environments to improve detection accuracy for wildlife conservation applications.
Software Development Engineer Intern @ AWS May 2025—Present
Currently contributing to internal tooling on the EC2 Nitro team, developing Kotlin-based monitoring solutions to automate infrastructure impairment detection and enhance observability across large-scale AWS environments. Focused on optimizing failure response pipelines and improving system resilience for millions of EC2 instances.
Computer Science Portfolio @ GitHub May 2025—Present
I'm familiar with different languages including Python, Java, Kotlin, R, SQL, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS with hands-on experience in machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow and Keras, web development tools such as FastAPI and Flask, and cloud platforms including AWS EC2. I work with data science libraries including NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, and development tools like Git, Docker, and Jupyter. I specialize in deep learning, computer vision, and API development with practical experience in data pipelines and distributed systems. While I recently created my GitHub account for personal use, it includes both academic coursework and personal projects that demonstrate these technical skills.
Founder @ SANO Dec. 2024—Present
SANO is a privacy-first sexual health app built in Swift that helps users assess STD/HIV risk per encounter, track PrEP adherence, and stay on top of regular testing. I'm currently developing the MVP and exploring how to integrate on-device machine learning for personalized, adaptive risk assessments, focusing on privacy by keeping all data local. The design, based on Figma mockups and user interviews, features a calendar-based interface with color-coded risk tracking. SANO is built for underserved, high-risk communities, with an emphasis on anonymity, usability, and ethical health tech.
Bioacoustics and ML Researcher @ Cornell Lab of Ornithology May 2023—Dec 2024
Applied transfer learning with BirdNET to detect non-bird vocalizations, achieving F1-scores of 0.90 for cat classification and 0.69 for meerkat detection. Preprocessed open-source acoustic datasets using Python, JavaScript, and R, outperforming baseline deep learning approaches for cross-species bioacoustic analysis.
Intern & TA @ The Copula Program May 2023—Aug 2024
Participated as a machine learning research intern in The Copula Program, a six-week mentorship connecting underrepresented high school students with academic mentors. My research contributions and collaborative approach led to an invitation to return and assist with program activities, helping guide fellow participants through their research projects and a cademic exploration
Author & Illustrator @ Cálculo Hecho Fácil: Una Introducción a Cálculo Avanzado Dec 2022—Aug 2023
Authored a comprehensive 117-page Spanish-language calculus textbook designed to help students develop a deeper understanding of advanced calculus concepts. The book covers limits and continuity, derivatives and their applications, integration techniques, differential equations, parametric and vector calculations, polar coordinate systems, and infinite series. Created to provide Spanish-speaking students with accessible explanations of complex mathematical concepts.
